District land office Receivers were responsible for all financial transactions relating to the sale and disposition of public lands. This series consists of letterpress copybooks and copies of outgoing letters from the Montgomery Land Office Receiver. Letters are addressed to the U.S. Land Office, individual land owners and others involved in the disposition of public land. Subjects discussed include payments for land, disputed land claims and bank deposits. The series is incomplete and covers the years 1832, 1866-1871, 1881, 1894-1895, 1902-1904, and 1906-1907.
